The New Hunter Gatherers

I was thinking today about how men's and women's roles are changing. More and more men stay at home, while the women go out and work for a living...what is that all about? Have we taken away the reason for men to get out and work? Is it really anyone's fault? Just reaching out for some answers. Wondering where all this is going...in a rhetorical sense.

any ideas? or am i totally off base? just thinkin out loud. ;-)

hello melanie!nice question. i think it's because women have more opportunity for development now than decades ago. Before, the man was expected to be the sole breadwinner and the woman stays at home. But now, since both men and women are working, sometimes the husbands/men can afford to stay at home. Sometimes they are laid off, or just quit to take care of the kids maybe because the wife is earning more or has a more stable job. I think of it as a give and take thing. And as long as the wife/woman is earning enough for the family, maybe the couple feels it's okay to let the husband/man stay at home if that's what he likes. =)
